In the two centuries following their arrival, the English transformed the location into a bustling salt fishing community and unofficial capital of Labrador. As the population grew, so did the amenities of the town, many of which were significant developments for the region and the province. Today, these elements have been restored, making Battle Harbour a window into the past and one of the world’s most unique island getaways.
